Janakpurdham , March 17, 2025 :  Traders in Mahottari have launched protests after a group of robbers looted a jewelry shop in the district.

The incident took place at Shiv Shanti Jewelers, located in Padoal Bazaar, Ward No. 3 of Balwa Municipality. According to shop owner Arun Kumar Sah, the robbers took 20 tolas of gold, NPR 150,000 in cash, a locker, and the shop's CCTV hard disk.

Locals reported that five robbers arrived in a jeep on Saturday night to carry out the heist. CCTV footage from nearby shops captured them fleeing toward Bardibas.

In response to the lack of security, traders have shut down the market and taken to the streets, burning tires in protest against the police administration’s failure to ensure safety.
